Outdoor Living Garden in Wandsworth Common, SW11

Brief:

The existing garden in Wandsworth Common had an unusual arrangement, with steps leading down from the house before another set of steps rose towards the main garden area. The different levels made the space feel disconnected and limited how easily the garden could be used.

The aim was to create a more practical, contemporary and low maintenance garden that connected the house with the garden and provided a comfortable space for family life and outdoor entertaining.

Solution:

The garden was completely reconfigured to create a more cohesive single-level outdoor space.

Artificial lawn provides a practical, low maintenance central area, while carefully designed geometric sections of stone and decorative pebbles introduce structure and visual interest. The clean lines of the hard landscaping create a contemporary framework for the garden without making it feel overly formal.

Beautiful shrubs and planting have been positioned around the garden to soften the geometric layout and introduce colour, texture and seasonal interest. Garden lighting was also incorporated throughout the scheme, highlighting the planting and key features to give the garden a completely different atmosphere after dark.

The result is a practical outdoor living space that feels significantly more connected to the house, with a strong contemporary design and a low maintenance finish that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
