Sophisticated Urban Garden Design in Clapham South, SW4

Brief:

The brief for this Clapham SW4 garden was to transform an outdoor space into a stylish, sophisticated and practical garden that felt like a natural extension of the home.

The garden needed to provide an attractive space for relaxing and entertaining while introducing greater privacy and a stronger sense of structure. As with many urban gardens in Clapham, making the most of the available space was an important part of the design.

Solution:

The garden was completely redesigned to create a contemporary urban setting with a strong combination of hard landscaping, planting and bespoke screening.

A new raised terrace provides a practical area for outdoor living, while carefully positioned planting softens the hard landscaping and brings greenery into the space.

One of the defining features of the garden is the striking metallic screening. These sculptural screens add a contemporary architectural element while helping to create privacy and visual separation within the garden.

Lateral timber fencing provides a contrasting natural texture and reinforces the clean, horizontal lines of the design. Together, the timber and metallic screens create a layered backdrop that gives the garden depth without making the relatively compact space feel enclosed.

The result is a sophisticated urban garden that combines practical outdoor living with distinctive materials, planting and architectural detailing.
